WHAT WE OFFER
The most accurate diagnostic test for patients suffering from Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), cystitis, prostatitis or other types of infections associated with bacteria in the Urinary Tract (UT). realSENSe’s state of the art Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST) produces personalized treatment options so clinicians can prescribe with confidence.
Rapid polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing of 6 sexually trasmitted infections (STIs) pathogens. PCR testing allows for significant increases in sensitivity and specificity yielding the most accurate results in 24 hours or less.
Real Diagnostics combines our incomparable realSENSe UTI test PLUS our realSTI PCR test leaving no room for diagnostic guess work. A robust panel of 36 pathogens are tested with realSENSe Plus+ in addition to our AST which tests up to 54 antibiotics for UTI pathogens.

Since the 1950s, urine culture has been the gold standard for diagnosing Urinary Tract Infections (UTI). Although molecular diagnostic approaches with their DNA amplification techniques have replaced outdated diagnosis methods for some infections, UTIs are still generally diagnosed as they have been for decades - by urine culture.
Standard culture presents significant limitations for detection of the full spectrum of urinary bacterial species due to slow growing bacteria that die in the presence of oxygen. Faster and more accurate diagnostic methods are available today but, there is still a missing component to begin defining a cure - Effective Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST).
The new gold standard -
Molecular UTI diagnostics via Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) + Comprehensive AST
The human microbiome is comprised of complex and dynamic microbial communities. It is more likely that the community characteristics, such as composition and metagenomic functionality are responsible for disease development as opposed to single organisms, thus, proving urine culture to be an extremely ineffective method of diagnosis. Over the past decade, the study of the human microbiome and its relation to health and disease has flourished due to the technological advances of microbiology testing. Source
Most PCR-based diagnostic efforts focus heavily on defining optimal uropathogen colony counts to diagnose UTIs. Meanwhile, very minimal diagnostic efforts are devoted to identifying a specific antibiotic treatment to eradicate the infection. Source
Culture vs. PCR
Percent of uropathogens
67% of uropathogens are missed with standard urine culture and 50% in patients with severe urinary symptoms.
Million people affected
UTIs are some of the most common bacterial infections, affecting 150 million people each year worldwide.
Percent of cultures are negative
Studies have shown that depending on the population, up to 80% of urine cultures are negative, underlining the need for more effective methods of diagnosis.
The necessity for PCR + AST-based diagnostics
Standard urine culture misses 67% of uropathogens overall. Molecular PCR testing identifies significant bacteriuria resulting in a sensitivity of 97%.
Due to slow growth with standard urine culture, turnaround time can be anywhere from 24 hours to 120 hours.
Molecular PCR testing will produce results in 24 hours or less if negative and if positive, within 48 hours or less including Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST).
A significant amount of growth happens during the transit process of a sample. To make sure the most accurate results are provided, Real Diagnostics uses specimen tubes that contain boric acid to stabilize the microbial count for up to 3 to 5 days if refrigerated.
Having preserved specimen samples is key when generating accurate MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration) results which are based on the actual growth of an organism as observed in the laboratory.
A true MIC reveals the difference between whether a bacterial isolate is susceptible, how susceptible the organism is against a particular drug, and the exact point at which the isolate becomes resistant.
The most accurate diagnostic test:
When patients need solutions fast, clinicians trust the diagnostic precision and personalized Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST) of realSENSe. Our robust test identifies 30 gram-positive, gram-negative, viral, and fungi organisms and uses an automated microdilution testing methodology to generate personalized treatment plans for every patient within 24-48 hours.
